Roy box office collection: Ranbir Kapoor-Arjun Rampal starrer collects Rs 10.40 core, becomes the biggest opener of 2015!

Yes, you heard that right! Vikramjit Singh’s directorial debut is the biggest opener of 2015 so far…

Ranbir Kapoor, Arjun Rampal and Jacqueline Fernandez starrer Roy finally hit the screens yesterday. Though the film didn’t manage to impress the critics at large, it still got cash registers jingling which is indeed impressive. Despite garnering not-so-flattering reviews, the romantic thriller ended up collecting Rs 10.40 crore on the opening day thus becoming the biggest opener of this year till now. Akshay Kumar’s action thriller Baby which released last month had minted Rs 9.3 crore on day 1. But surprisingly Roy has surpassed its first day collection.
Film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh wrote on the popular social networking site Twitter a while back, “#Roy Fri – 10.40 cr. India biz.”
While Ranbir and Arjun’s film raked in good amount at the ticket windows on Friday, the collections may go down over the weekend courtesy the ongoing Cricket World Cup 2015.

Apart from Roy, Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh’s controversial film MSG: The Messenger also released on Friday. However, its Friday figures aren’t yet as yet. But we hear the film is expected to do well in the Northern territories because of Guruji’s (Ram Rahim Singh) huge fan following.
