Deepika Padukone’s double standard? Attends Filmfare Awards 2015 after cleavage controversy!
The Filmfare awards are run by the Times Group and as we all know, Deepika was involved in a major controversy with this publication recently. Now she decides to show up for the awards?
Deepika Padukone took the nation by a storm when she took to her Twitter account last year and bashed the Times of India for uploading a video of her, which cheaply sensationalized her cleavage. The actress tweeted saying,” Don’t talk about women empowerment when you don’t know how to respect women.” Dippy’s outburst soon became a long and detailed topic of discussion where some light was shed upon the unethical and unwarranted genre of journalism which is shaping up today.I personally saluted Deepika for her courage and supported her in her wrath against the publication in question. There were some who called her hypocritical for doing item numbers and ‘objectifying’ herself many times. There were others who said that she had no right to get so worked up as all this was a ‘part and parcel’ of being a celebrity. I however, believed that the actress was right in standing up for what she considered wrong and was stood by her act till now.
As of this moment, I’m of the opinion that Ms Padukone is a true example of what we call ‘Double standards.’ As I was looking out for live updates on the 60th Filmfare Awards which are being held right now, I came across a picture of Deepika Padukone, looking oh-so-radiant and pretty in a white dress. “I’m so excited to be here” she said in a video which I happened to come across. The one and only thought that ran through my mind was, what the HELL is she doing here ?
As far as I know, the Filmfare Awards are run by the Times Group, the same publication which Deepika was at loggerheads with last year. I had heard that the actress had decided to not show up at the awards, following the controversy. And here she was, a smiling Deepika, all happy in white. There are two things which I would like to point out; Firstly, I don’t know whether the news of her boycotting Filmfare awards
this year was true or not. True or false, I believe the Ram-Leela fame should have decided to not show up anyway.Secondly, there were hundreds including me, who believed in and supported her in her fight. In the end, we are left looking like a bunch of fools as Ms Padukone decided to oblige the Times Group by making an appearance. All that drama for what Deepika? So that we could see you attend the Filmfare awards this year? The actress took a stand, but couldn’t stand by it herself. How disturbing is that?
